I just recently read and reviewed this book for my website as the topic is one that is near and dear to my heart, engaging in side hustles in order to make money on the side - while employed at a 9 to 5 job.In this day and age when so many are struggling with debt of all sorts, especially student loan debt, it can seem impossible to climb your way out when you're starting in such a deep hole.David Carlson proposes a way to help you to turbocharge your income. He promotes the idea of finding ways to make money money in your free time outside of your normal 9 to 5 job. Your free time now has a job – making money.He discusses different kinds of side hustles, from the quick money side hustles - to side hustles that may take more time to bear fruit. He also dives in to look at a variety of different ways to make money on the side, from working a part time job to creating your own business. He also delves into quite a few helpful tips, tricks and tools for those making money on the side.This book is a must read for those looking to make money beyond their day job. It will help to grease the wheels of your own ingenuity, and put you on course to take your income to the next level.
Carlson gives real good, practical advice for making more money in the very-easy-to-read Hustle Away Debt. There are side hustles presented in this book that I had never thought of before. ANY person who is in debt, looking to save for a vacation, interested in extra income to invest, etc., will greatly benefit from this book. Carlson is also realistic about side hustles, and explains the pros and cons of each one, including the ones he has done.
As many know, there is a plethora of articles online on how to cut costs as a way of repaying obligations such as student loans and/or building up a savings account. However, there are fortunately now more articles on extra ways of making money but I still would love to see more articles tailored around extra ways of making money whether a person is going the full hustle or side hustle route. Fortunately, I unintentionally came across Hustle Away Debt: Eliminate Your Debt by Making More Money by David Carlson one night when I saw it being featured in my twitter feed and I’m glad to have found out about it because of some of the following info: the pre-hustle checklist (page 39), one of the side hustles such as Caregiving & Senior Services (page 68), local side hustles (starts on page 107), and much more. Finding out about this book was important to me because I’m actually becoming more adept at saving money the longer I’m alive but I could use more sources on legal and legitimate income that can also be tailored to entrepreneurship and/or a side hustle, which I feel this book is an answer to my prayers on this concern.
I've been reading the Young Adult Money blog for a few months now and it's become one of my favorite personal finance blogs. I'm happy that this book isn't like many other PF books out there that tell you to be frugal, save, track your spending, etc. There's only so much you can cut back on. I even moved to Omaha and gave up a job in Scottsdale so I could live in a city that has a lower cost of living.I really think a lot of people underestimate side jobs (side hustles). They don't see how working at a side hustle can help you financially. However, it really can! It all adds up. I've pet sat and made $50 from pet sitting, written an article for a website and got paid $100, won a $15 gift card to Target from a smaller blog, won a Bible once, and I'm hoping to expand do more side hustles primarily freelance writing jobs and VA work. I put away money from my side hustles to cover college fees like books and parking permits.I read about a couple that are dog walking as part of their side hustle and are earning $12,000 this year. Don't underestimate the power of the side hustle!
As a personal finance blogger, this topic is one that excites me! I've learned the importance of having multiple streams of income and Hustle Away Debt is the perfect guide for coming up with and implementing your side hustle. This book isn't just a list of "here are some ways to make extra money." I mean, you could just Google that, right? The book does include some ideas for side hustles, but it's much more than that. It talks you through preparing to implement a side hustle into your life, helping you select one that is right for you, to enable you to maximize your time and skills. Not all side hustles make sense for everyone; to be most effective you have to find one that fits your lifestyle, routine, skills, and available time. It's informative and motivating!
Very helpful putting debt into perspective and how to deal with it and get out! Lots of ideas and tips to help with the process of eliminating debt. For most of us millenials, we all have some type of debt hovering above us. This book is an overall great read!
