VERY small tabs.The songs are largely from the 80's and 90's. The book provides a good mix of music. Better have strong eyesight; the sheetmusic is VERY small. The tabs are difficult to read-they are not clear. Unless you read music well and don't use the tab systems, I susggest you pass on this book. They chocked the book full of songs; perhaps less songs and larger type setting.I do not recommend and wouldn't buy it again if I understood just how small the lettering is. Not satisfied with this product.
The good: A lot of songs for a great price on . Bulk pricing!The bad: Songs cross too many genres without depth. In fact I'm not sure people looking to play certain songs in the book would also like to play the other songs included. Song styles are scattered as far as :Sex Pistols, Dave Mathews, Boz Scaggs and Satriani. I think they would have had a stronger book if they focused on a genre like hard rock, classic rock or AOR rock. Its not big enough to give you depth to be a great tab book. They could have put out several volumes like the "Real" books.The ugly: Cheap phone book paper. SMALL tab. Combine that with the cheap off white paper and it can be tough to see on a music stand.If you're in need of a bunch of TAB songs to use with an instructor then this would fit the bill nicely. Add a star. Different musical styles with different approaches to bass would be useful to you then. I wanted to have a bunch of songs to see how random bass lines were created and to write notes. For me this worked ok so 3 stars.
This is a nice compilation book of a lot of different basslines. Pretty much packs everything from Doobie Brothers to Dio. My only gripe is a few of the songs aren't the best from the bands- like Metallica Breadfan cover- would rather see the original Budgie song tabbed for bass any day. 448 pages of bass tab for this price is great.
I love this book!!! lots of classic songs that I've always wanted to learn, plus, its the original tab from the original songs!!! Thank you Hal Leonard Corp for getting me this book on time as well. FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS!!!! Its made me a better bass player!!!
