This book is pretty bad. There are multiple errors in it, from missing chords to incorrect chord progressions. I have played music for 20+ years and this is easily the most poorly edited songbook I have bought.
Dear prospective buyer, please use the Look Inside feature at the song names and the sort of rotated chord notation. Some reviewers said the chords are notated incorrectly, but they are wrong. The chords are rotated s 90 degrees counter-clockwise to how most people notate chords. I find it supremely easy to adjust and find the book tk be a value purchase.
The songs are good beginner songs. Book cover feels like it has a rubber coating to it and the pages remind me of coloring book paper. Some chords are in the wrong spots as the key change happens before or after the placement of the chord and some chords are not right for the song. The simple 2, 3, or 4 chords make playing a song fairly easy and is therefore good for novices.
Really good old time favorites. I'm a novice Uke player and these are just my speed. Includes diagrams of chords and fingering and other useful stuff. Of course, when I play "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain" my cats do weep but that shouldn't be a reflection on the book, just on my Uke skills.
Excellent book for uke beginners/advanced beginners. Songs have from 2-9 chords, although most have 3-5. As in all of Balinger's uke books, there is a wonderful section in the back with helpful strumming patterns and finger-picking patterns for those who want to play beyond beginner strumming.
Great song book...only one problem...there is an error all the way through...C is NOT the first fret as noted in the book. C7 is the first fret and C is supposed to be the 3rd fret! Other than that it is a good book for beginners. Perhaps the publisher can correct it and send me a new book!! Thanks
Songs are pretty simple, beginner really. The classics are definitely in there, and you can make them sound less beginner if you're a more advanced musician. I just was hoping for more traditional Ukulele songs.
Great old songs. My dad used to play the uke when I was growing up. He played for HOURS a week. It looked so easy for him..Not so much for me, though. Practice makes perfect...I hope that holds true in my case!
