It's better than some books for this purpose, but nowadays that's not high praise, as today's crop of music lesson books generally are a dismal lot. This book is weak in the ways one expects from a book that forms part of series of similar books. Useful information specific to playing saxophone tends to get neglected (such as the rationale for calling it a "transposing" instrument), but still it does fairly well with the topics it does cover.
I would have given this a five star rating, but some of the slide position for some notes are not right
