I plan to use this book over the summer to keep up my newly acquired chops, and I think it will do the trick. Just randomly reviewing the studies, they seem perfectly geared to a student just finishing her first year of lessons.
A Great book of Etudes, would suggest it to any french horn student. The studies are very melodic and cover a wide range of keys, meters and rhythmic styles.
Should be a portion of every horn student's daily practice schedule. Different keys, styles, dynamics. Do two three of these short etudes each day.
Very good for the advanced intermediate horn player that is looking to increase his or her skills in playing and reading music.
Use it for quick rhythm trouble. I do about a page a day and it truly does help build a sense of time.
Excellent book for advanced beginners. The page long pieces could be used as unaccompanied solos.
