I use these books and CDs to help with my intonation. They are fabulous. You learn what the song is supposed to sound like, you learn what good intonation sounds like, and you learn what good tone sounds like. You can play along with the cello track, and / or just the accompaniment track. You learn what the markings mean, to take repeats, to keep the tempo, and to employ the dynamics. Some tracks are easily recognizable, some not so much, but all will add to one's musical foundation / background. Highly recommended.
I give this CD 5 stars because Suzuki went to the effort to record these songs with professional artists instead of using cheap synthesized MIDI.This CD contains all of the songs in Cello Books 3 and 4.All songs have the original recording, plus additional accompaniment tracks that have the cello volume mixed way down low so that the piano is dominant.Students would benefit by using "slow-downer" software, as the recordings were done at a fast tempo. I recommend Anytune Pro. I imported the CD to my iPad via iTunes, and now play the songs via Anytune at a slow tempo when I learn a new song.
I am an adult who has recently started playing the cello again after a 40 year gap. The Suzuki material is a great re-introduction to playing. I love that the focus is on tone quality. I like all of the pieces included in the books. I am really enjoying listening to the CD's and playing the material.
This is the book my child uses at music school. Handy, useful and easy to follow. The CD that comes with it is the best!
The suzuki method is not complete without these CDs. The method encourages you to listen to a professional and compare yourself, in order to improve in technique
