This is a good book filled with great songs however it only has tab for intros and solos the arrangements are difficult it is advanced intermediate. I play Tenor Guitar not mandolin so it may be better for mandolin.
The songs are fun, and easy. it does NOT, as stated, have all the music in TAB. The intros, and some other harderparts are in tab, the rest is sheet music. The sheet music however, is generally single note melodies, and easy to negotiate
I'm new to the mandolin and love the concept. Brought to my teacher and even he had a little trouble following along in the book... My teacher had not seen this series and was delighted. That said, if you love these tunes, I'd recommend the book. Not for a beginner, but certainly worth learning.
You'll notice out of the rock songs that were written with mandolin, none of them are here and that's cool. I used this to learn how to play several songs (like Stairway To Heaven) and it'll get you going. What it's not going to do is teach you the guitar parts on mandolin note for note, but you'll be able to fake it somewhat.
This is a good book to help beginners keep looking ahead - especially if you're self taught. Both regular music and tabs included. Might be better with a cd.
