Great book for playing at church. They pieces are not very difficult, so that's nice if you get nervous playing in front of a crowd :) I play w/ a pianist at church and have heard many compliments when playing these pieces.
This is pretty good, the hymns are pretty easy.. my son plays the cello, he could play them all almost instalntly. Good stuff and definatly great for beginner to medium players. Book has a separate part that pulls out that is only the cello part and the main book is both cello and piano. Also comes with a cd with music.
My cello teacher also loves this! He wants his own copy. I'm a beginner with one year of learning as an adult. I used to sing in a choir as a young kid. This brings back lots of good feelings and memories. I think this book is for beginners with up to 3 years of experience. Since I'm an extremely slow learner, my opinion about the level of this book may not be accurate for many people. However, the lovely hymnal songs and the CD are great to help you learn the cello.
My 12 year old daughter has been playing the cello for 4 years and wanted a book of hymns that she could play for our church. I found this book on for her and it has been perfect! The book has a CD with it that has really helped her to practice.
I play these songs for the classical service at my church. I am probably an intermediate cellist and I find them to be pretty easy. I can usually play them well after a 2-3 times through. I think they sound really good. The piano accompaniment is nice. Some of them seem to focus on the lower strings of the cello.
I'm a classical Bassist who often plays cello music like Bach Cello Suites, etc. This is very easy music for even an advanced middle schooler but it's fun sometimes to just not have to work at anything and play along with the accompaniment CD. If you are looking for something challenging as a cellist or a bassist that are still in the vein of Hymnals this is definitely not it.
