Lots of information, poorly organized, sometimes repetitiveStats very weak (no probability basis to build on), spreadsheet use limited.Forecasting painfully detailed, mixing equations with Excel codingOptimization (majority of text) booooooooring... when it should be the BEST, MOST FUN part.Selection of text by full time staff; I am the part time instructor.
It's a good, however, they are no answers to the problems at the end of the chapter. You cannot check your work.
A book that doesn't explain much math and relies completely on print screens of excel. I've spent most of my semester reviewing on Youtube and have had much more success than that of recreating excel sheets in this paper weight of a book.
Easy to follow instructions that go hand in hand with our class instruction. Well written and easy to understand, only negative is a relatively high rental price. Due do the involvement of software always changing, I recommend renting and not buying.
Good treatment of spreadsheet analysis with explanations of using Excel. Focuses on Excel 2013 but it looks like any version would work. Comes with downloadable Solver package (this is not the built-in Solver that comes with Excel). Downside: You need a course code (available from your instructor) to install it and it's only good for one semester. I paid almost $300 for this book. The software should not expire. We are not using it in the course and instead rely on the built-in Excel functions and Analysis toolpak. I'm deducting one star for this software restriction.
This is a great book and it's really a tool for people that are looking to make good business decisions, optimization, and forecasting. I highly recommend it if you're a small business or just trying to understand modeling. The chapters take you step - by - step on various examples and the program used is an add-on to excel. I highly recommend it.
This one is worth every penny. We use it in class but it also applies to solve a lot of tricky problems that you encounter at work.
