My daughter is a huge Curious George fan. After checking out the same books from the library repeatedly, we decided it would be a good plan to just buy some for our own library at home. This box set was the perfect starting place. All the books in this set are super cute and probably the most requested books in my daughter's collection.I've since bought two additional sets. For her third birthday, she wanted a Curious George party so we bought two of these box sets and gave out the individual books as party favors. At less than $2 a book, they are just the right price for a favor and much better than a cheap piece of junk toy that will just break. All the parents loved having a book to take home and enjoyed selecting whichever book they thought their child might like.Whether you are a new Curious George fan, a seasoned fan looking to expand your collection, or selecting a gift for a little George fan, the price of this set can't be beat!
Please read this entire paragraph: I was disappointed to open the box and see that two of the books included in this set are included in another set we've received before! So we now have two copies of "George Makes Pancakes" and "George Visits a Dinosaur Museum." But guess who's fault this is? MINE!!! I didn't read the fine print well enough. So I have no qualms with :) BUT if you already have a set of six like we do, read the book titles carefully or you may end up with two of the same. If you have a book-eating 18-month-old like I do, that may come in handy though! My youngest children love Curious George and these are excellent readers. We've read them over and over again. Repetition is great for young readers to build vocabulary and familiarize them with reading and to BUILD a love of reading! Curious George is a classic, we homeschool and we're picky with what we read but anything by H.A. Rey is welcome in our home. Great children's books and the illustrations are wonderful too!
The whole Curious George series has been a favorite of my kids. From very early on, we started reading them to them, and the older they got, the more there was to learn and understand from the books and the pictures. Some reviewers have complained that these are not the original Curious George books or that the plot is very repetitive. While these are not the originals, my kids do not seem to mind, and I don't think they are "worse" than the originals, just slightly different if at all.The plot is repetitive but that is because George is always getting into trouble so you have the same pattern--he gets curious, he does something naughty, something bad happens, then something good comes out of the bad event, and then everyone is happy and George is usually a hero. This does not bother me in the least. My kids find his adventures interesting and never get bored with that "plot." To them, it is funny and what makes Curious George funny. Sure, if this was an adult book then the repetition might be problematic but thankfully it is not an adult book! The illustrations are nice and detailed and provide a lot of material for my kids to look at while I read the story to them. The quality of the pages is good and it's nice that there is sometimes stickers or a little activity in the back, though truthfully my kids have never cared for them much.I like that there are many of these books because my kids become familiar with George and the concept of series, and can distinguish one book in the series from another and even have favorites.I really don't think you can go wrong with these books. I don't know many other kids that don't like these. They are a good investment!
The Curious George book set comes with 6 books. The six books are Curious George and the Puppies, Curious George Makes Pancakes, Curious George Goes to a Chocolate Factory, Curious George at the Aquarium, Curious George Visits a Toy Store, and Curious George's Dinosaur Discovery. The books are 8 by 8 paper backs. The books were super affordable. I bought them for $6.95, which was roughly $1.16 for a book. Also, the back of the books contain activities and some fun stuff.I would highly recommend these books for children in preschool. Because my brother loved these books!I purchased this for my little brother who happens to be Curious George's number one fan. :)I mean, who wouldn't love George? Curious George is a curious, cute, innocent, and intelligent monkey. He has watched most if not all of the Curious George movies and episodes. So, he was super excited to finally get a Curious George book set.
My 4 year old son loves Curious George, so this collection was a great way to expand our George reading material. We've only had the collection for a few days and already some of the books have become his go-to bedtime book choices!
Great collection of Curious George Books. The box is, of course, completely useless once the books are removed. Toddlers and young kids are not known for their gentleness and the box was smashed and ripped before I could even consider repackaging the books. But the stories themselves are wonderful and the books hold up great. Would definitely recommend to Curious George fans.
