I bought this book for my little voracious reader. My toddler loves penguins, and the drawings looked positively adorable. I needed goodnight books that weren't too long and would hold his interest, so this seemed ideal. The story of a penguin going from South to North Pole is simple and cute. Easy to follow for a toddler, too. The artwork is positively charming, and I kind of just want to squeeze Penguin. The only reason for a reduction of a star is that there are a couple of pages where there is black text on dark purple or blue, and I have to squint to read it. The pages would have been better served with white text. It's a small gripe, but when my son is actually capable of reading, it would be a challenge for him to read those pages. Still, I would buy every book in this series. Super cute!
If you have not read one of the Penguin books by Salina Yoon, I HIGHLY suggest you read all of them before you read this one. It has a cute tie in to each of her previous books and it makes the story much better when you recognize the characters from them. I absolutely love the Penguin books, and my son loves having them read to him. Each Penguin series book is filled with amazing illustrations and great stories. I loved that this book stressed the importance of curiosity, adventure, and being glad to come home at the end of it all!
I love all the penguin books or I should say my daughter does. These were the first book my daughter sat down and paid attention when I read to her. (I started reading them to her as soon as she could sit on her own, about 6 months old) . The books are colorful and the illustrations are adorable and friendly looking. Each page has one, maybe two sentences, short enough to hold a child's attention span. I've also purchase two books from the same author about a bear.
Cute illustrations, but terribly written. The story is all over place and misses opportunities to explain great themes presented in the illustrations.
I love this story. We have a few other stories about Penguin and this is just as great as the others by Salina Yoon.
Super cute book. My daughter is all about penguins. This book did not disappoint. Love!!
My grand daughter loves this whole series. She wants to hear it ever night.
