I really enjoy this author and with a friend's child on the way, I'm going to be getting them in paperback to give to the new parents. A child can let his imagination go wild with this story of a Pteranodon's sneezing. The sneezing fit is cured by his little human friend's reading up on dinosaurs(teaching a child that answers can be found in books, very nice touch), and learning that dinosaurs do better in warmer weather. Off they go to the tropics and the Pteranodon gets better just in time for the Allosaur to lose his roar.
This little series of books is so cute. They are well written and easy to read (the flow of the rhyme is nice) and easy for a child to follow without being too simple. My grandson has asked what a few words mean and that is wonderful when a book can inspire a child to be inquisitive. If the story wasn't interesting to him - he wouldn't bother to ask what the word meant in order to understand the story. The pictures are cute and it is just a very well put together children's story.
Super cute book that my 7yo stepson loved. It is easy to read, great illustrations, and a fun story. He loves dinosaurs and I love him reading so this was a win-win. The content is a little young for him, but we both thought it was cute. I recommend this more for probably a 3-5yo, but if you have a dinosaur fan like mine, they would likely still be entertained.
Both of my kids have loved this author. These books have an ease in the rhyme, they have cute stories, and the pictures are fun to look at. My son is eagerly awaiting the next edition of the dinosaur books; the Allosaur Lost His Roar. He keeps asking me what day it'll be done. It's nice to see him so in love with these stories.
Love this story. Very fun to read out loud. Pictures are adorable....hoping to see more of these with the rest of the dinosaurs. Found one mistake where author used then instead of than but that is forgivable because the rhymes are awesome.
My four year old loves this book. She was so pleased with the book she asked for it to be read a second time. I was happy to oblige. The child with the dinosaur pals in not only entertaining in this book, but educational as well. We learned about the Pteranodon's ideal climate and lifestyle. It was a silly fun way to get in learning.What I like about these books is the child who is the main character. His willingness to learn and think critical is great. I think that it helps encourage a healthy curiosity in young readers. Would I recommend this book? Why yes I would. Boys and girls alike will find this book fun to read and look at.
This was a much anticipated follow up to My T-Rex Has a Toothache, and it is great! A bit longer but amazingly still manages to engage my 2 1/2 year old. My only criticism is that toward the end of the book he uses "then" rather than "than," which pains me. Overall, I just love this series!
This author understands the idea of story-telling with cadence and whimsy. The illustrations are wonderful: able to keep a child's interest without being overwhelming. I am looking forward to the Allosaurus book to come, almost as much army son!
