Even though I ended up finding my copy of this book a year and a half after I could've used it for a class, I still find it very handy. However, I am not sure why there is not an English example for the long a (|e|) sound. Why not use a word like "make?" Also, I am not sure why this book has some of the sounds it does (it just seems extra as of course the q sound is generally "kw" and "ts" is "ts") and why it doesn't have the upside down W for the "wh" sound.However, other than that, I find this book very helpful and I definitely enjoy the listening lab online.
Easy to reference. The examples are great. The online audio is awesome.
There errors for Spanish consonants. There is no \v\ in Spanish. The letter "v" in vamos has a \b\ sound not a \v\ sound.It says there is no \x\ in Spanish but there is. The sound example for \dz\ is wrong for the Spanish word inyectar. The "y" shouldsound like \j\.
QUite nice IPA book. Now IPA means to me phonetics and not psychoanalysis like it did before. Sea change!
