After purchasing the Finale Software, I was disappointed that the instruction manual was in the software and there was no way to print the chapters to read. This book gave me the instructions I could sit and read.

There were only 2 books that I could find which were applicable to Finale 2012, so I ordered them both. Perused them during the first couple of weeks I was using the program - when it was a great novelty and I was spending about 5 hours a day on it! I learned a lot. Most of the information could probably have been found in the help documentation, but this was well-written and much easier to follow. If you are new to Finale, you want this book.

I have only gone through 3 full chapters and half of the 4th chapter, which covers entering music via a MIDI device. The book is easy to follow and I have already learned qute a lot. I don't think I would be able to learn this software(Finale 2012) without it.

I have come to not only enjoy, but depend on the valuable Finale texts authored by Tom Rudolph and Vince Leonard. The Third Edition provides a practical, concise and user-friendly approach to working with Finale 2012. As a composer and educator, I find their text is informative, easy to navigate and saves me so much time. The complete overview of the changes to Finale from 2005-2012 is a must for anyone who has worked with Finale over the years. Well done and much appreciated.

When you think of music education, Berklee is one of the first institutions to pop to mind. This book is an excellent resource for total beginners or musicians/composers that are interested in getting more out of the high end composing tool, Finale.I started my music writing with Music Writer, a very low end music transcription program, and a year later I transitioned to Finale. After using Finale for over a decade, this book showed me many tricks, features, and shortcuts that I still had not seen. The book was easy to understand, and the practical exercises in each chapter ensured that you were able to apply the lessons in a practical way.Well done!

I've been using this book since the first edition and I have found it an invaluable resource. I do a lot of work with music teachers around the country and I always recommend Rudolph/Leonard texts. For Finale notation software, this is the best one out there. If you are looking to learn Sibelius notation software as well, check out Rudolph/Leonard's Sibelius: A Comprehensive Guide. What I like about this book the most is that each chapter takes you step by step through creating various scores. This is not a reference manual; rather, this book is actually a way to teach yourself Finale software through simple to quite complex scores.

If you want to learn Finale, you need to purchase this book. From the experienced Finale user to the newbie, this text is a comprehensive resource of material on Finale's latest and greatest features as well as a how-to manual for any skill level. A must have for any user!

If you are new to Finale, this book is a must-have. I know Finale has an online tutorial but this book even helped me navigate that! A wonderful, well-done, step-by-step resource. Well worth the money.
