There are many books out on Pro Tools 9 and due to the complexity of the DAW software there are many approaches to using it. So my recommendation is to get as many different good books on the subject as possible. Only by looking at it through several different engineers eyes will you get a comprehensive education of the potential of this incredible application. I started out with Pro Tools 101 Official Courseware, Version 9.0 which although it is beneficial to a beginner and is "the" AVID training course step 1, I found it to be a dry read, notwithstanding a great resource of information; so I am not damning the book.I also have Pro Tools 9: The Mixer's Toolkit: The Mixer's Toolkit which is another recommended book on the subject, my full review is available on that product page.Thirdly there is one book that is a must read, and it is not really on Pro Tools 9 specifically, but rather a general treatise on all the DAW app's and that is Mixing Secrets for the small studio In there you will see not where the button is to do something in Pro Tools, or any app, but rather know how to use it. Let me use an analogy.
