A number of years ago I was given a copy of Chuck Colson’s autobiography Born Again and learning about the life of this larger than life character was awe inspiring. Seeing how God moved in his life and brought him to a place of brokenness and nowhere left to turn but to God really spoke to me.Fast forward nearly 30 years. Chuck Colson has become a hero of mine. The station I was working for has been airing the Breakpoint program since it’s inception and through those broadcasts and Chuck’s books I had been challenged to develop a deeper biblical worldview. I was attending the National Religious Broadcasters conference in Nashville, TN, while at the conference I was invited to be a part of small group discussion with some representatives of Prison Fellowship, the ministry Chuck Colson founded and the producers of Breakpoint. During our conversations it became known that I desired to learn more about what it really means to believe what you believe. After the conversations I was invited to be a part of annual gathering called the Centurions.During my year with the Centurions program not only did I learn the beauty of the biblical worldview but I became friends with the man who also became my mentor - Chuck Colson. During the years that followed I was able to call on Chuck for his wisdom and counsel. Since his death that wisdom, though not silent through his writings, has been missing in my life - until now.My Final Word is that voice of reason that our culture so desperately needs. Chuck’s thoughts on homosexuality, Islam, bioethics, life, and the Church’s place in culture is clearly heard in this text. I am grateful that Zondervan and The Chuck Colson for Christian Worldview gave me an early copy of this book to read and review.
