"Beyond the Aquila Rift" - Alastair Reynolds - Subterranean Press - 2016 - ISBN 978-1-59606-766-0 [0716 - SF Collection - 07-21-2016] "Beyond the Aquila Rift" by the British writer Alastair Reynolds is sub titled "The Best Of" collection. I have always been suspicious of those so called "best of" collections but, nonetheless, in this case we are presented with an excellent collection of thoughtful and engrossing stories. I haven't found a clunker in the bunch and several have been certified page turners. The is a big book page wise which allows for the inclusions of several short novels. These are in my opinion the better stories since it provides the author room to create his world space. I'll admit this is my first encounter reading Alastair Reynolds. If you are also a first timer this is an excellent place to start. According to the author's comments on each story many of the characters and or backgrounds have tie-ins with the author's several series of novels. This has motivated me to seek out those books. Recommended by all means!
