This book rocks-in a SKA kind of way, of course ! Anybody who is (or was) into SKA or 2-Tone will be transported back to the late 70's-early 80's when The Specials ruled the charts and turntables ! Paul Williams has written a book with a depth that can only come from someone with a passion for the subject. The origin of The Specials is in line with the mood of England at that time- disenchanted youth, a hated government, teenage pregnacy and the battle against racism. They sang what every teenager was feeling back then, and the songs still hold up today. With (most) of The Specials back together and touring, this book is a great reminder of how important they were, and still are in the history of music, and people's lives.
