I bought this book quiet long a go, and I just had the time to go through it all. I have read around 7 books around the topic, none of them has the clarity I found in this book. Its extremely easily to read, the sequence of topics and chapters are noticeably great. It covers wide range of markets, and not only focused on specific advanced markets while it lists down the facts and cases. Written based on evidence (clear high academic standards). It is definitely my ultimate reference for Private Equity and Venture Capital.
I just bought the kindle version and unfortunately will return it since I am unable to zoom into the exhibits. This is a huge problem for large spreadsheet exhibits. For example, the LBO spreadsheet examples in chapter 13 are large spreadsheet printouts that were converted into low resolution graphics. As a result, it does not allow readers to zoom in and study the details, rendering it to be illegible and useless. It's unfortunate since at the first glance the overall content is actually quite excellent.
Very good for an introduction and/or review of PE industry.
Thorough text with great illustrative case studies to reinforce the material. Reads well, an accessible book for an complex topic.
