This audio CD is the best I have found for learning the fundamentals of the Chinese language. Instead of teaching a lot of phrases that you simply memorize, which was difficult for me, you learn the basics of verbs, pronouns, possessives, etc. so you can form your own sentences when you don't know the exact phrase to use. It will be enough for you to be understood. This program left me feeling like the Chinese spoken language is actually much easier than English. You will learn that Chinese has no articles (the, an, a), that there are no verb tenses, all pronouns use the same form of the verb, there are no plurals, etc. You will be amazed at how words make sense. Words that are similar look similar. For instance, words about education have components in common. Once you understand this, it makes memorizing nouns and verbs much easier. If you listen to this CD over and over, I promise you will form a fantastic base to continue your Chinese language acquisition. People are amazed at how fast I have learned the language.
Living Language is one of the best audiobooks I have purchased for language learning. It walks the learner through grammar and sentence structure and helps build vocabulary. Chinese words and phrases are presented by both males and females and the English narrator remains constant.This course also allows the participant to formulate sentences in Chinese with guided instruction- it's almost like homework! I think this is the best way to actually learn a language because it requires the learner to process the information, not just listen passively.I absolutely recommend this audiobook.
This is my favorite CD for learning Chinese. I listened to it in the car for awhile, which is my preferred way to learn another language because I have to be in the car at times but don't have a lot of time to study another language. From listening to about half of this CD I was already learning some of the basic grammar of Chinese and starting to put my own sentences together. I highly recommend it!
this tape is interesting but not entirely useful- pronunciations are not explained- you are just expected to imitate the speakers. there is no written guide to follow. not really what I was looking for
