I used this book while taking a class. It was helpful to have instruction along with the book but I am a slow learner. The book was easy to use for practicing what we learned in class.
I bought this because my husband got me a guitar for Christmas and I am taking lessons. It is a great book for beginners, teaching the strings and how to hold your guitar and pick, and then progressing slowly through notes on the various strings. The songs that are provided are fun to play. Great starting point for someone who wants to learn the guitar.
Happy with this guitar book! It's very easy to read and understand. It's very basic, so it's not a good book for an intermediate guitar player. Love how it illustrates the notes on the guitar and the notes on the staff lines. Great tool to learn guitar!
This is the book which I have been seeking. It is very similar to the one I used when I took lessons as a child. If you are looking for a good basic beginners book this one is highly recommended. It will not make you a rock/country or Christian recording artist overnight, it will give you a firm foundation for reading notes and learning the strings.
it's fantastic, if you practice each song and name the notes as you play and play from memory you remember the notes finger positions and much more, it's an open window to the musical world. i love it ythe only set back is if you don't have a teacher you won't be able to play duet songs nor learn at a specific speed. but it's very easy to transition techniques in the book to a classical, electric, or acoustic guitar.
The only way to figure out how to improve on your rhythm is though learning how to read and count at same time as well as tap foot at same time.
Love using this book for my students. I have used this book for the past two years. It helps the students to READ music instead of just being "TAB taught" illiterate musicians.
Item shipped when it was supposed to and was as described. I have since gotten rid of it because I gave away my guitar but it the songs were very easy for a beginner and was readable.
