There are two pages in this book that are useful for ukulele players. And those two pages contain information that can be found in multiple other places. I gave it two stars because it is useful for guitar, or perhaps for an instructor of multiple string instruments. I'm going to either give it away or sell it.
This book only contains 39 pages of information; the remaining pages are worksheets. It contains only 14 pages of guitar chords and theory with inadequate explanations. It contains only 6 pages of mandolin chords and 2 pages of ukulele chords. The remaining 16 pages are for banjo in various tunings. The book attempts to cover basic open chords, barre chords, movable chords and power chords for the guitar in too few pages. It covers basic mandolin chords, 2 finger chords and arpeggio scale, but doesn't cover double stops and again its explanations are inadequate. This book might be useful if you have an instructor to answer your many questions, but as a stand alone (learning) resource it doesn't cut it. If you play several of these instruments during your jam sessions and you need a single resource for chord and key progression reminders then this might be useful.
This is a great book that covers some basic and very useful chords for four instruments. I am using it for the mandolin and have found it extremely helpful. All the chords are simple to play with a bit of practice, so it has boosted my confidence in playing enormously.
Where are the four-finger chords for the mandolin? The G is there, but not the D. Some others are missing also. Too bad.
THIS IS A REALLY NEAT BOOK FOR PEOPLE WHO PLAY OR WANT TO LEARN TO PLAY ANY AND ALL OF THE INSTRUMENTS LISTED IN THIS EXCELLENT REFERENCE BOOK. I WANTED TO FIND OUT CHORDS FOR MY NEW BANJO AND BARITONE UKULELE. I HAVE PLAYED ACOUSTIC GUITAR FOR MANY YEARS AND USED TO PLAY TA SOPRANO UKULELE, BUT IT'S BEEN YEARS SINCE I OWNED A UKE AND NOW, I USE THE CHORD BOOK TO TEACH MYSELF AGAIN WHAT I USED TO KNOW. I NEED THE BOOK FOR MY NEW BANJO. I'VE NEVER PLAYED ONE. THE BOOK IS REALLY COMPLETE AND HAS SECTIONS ON GUITAR, MANDOLIN, UKULELE, FOUR STRING BANJO, AND FIVE STRING BANJO. IT'S REALLY COOL AND SUPER INFORMATIVE. I'VE GOT A LOT TO LEARN AND AM THOROUGHLY ENJOYING GETTING THERE. BUY IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT.
Good reference book to have around. Although it's devoted more towards guitar than the other instruments. It's well oganized, and well made.
This is an excellent overview of useful chords. Easy to read and has some basic, but helpful explanations. A very handy day to day tool and visual reference manual. Recommended for beginners as well as more experienced players.
All this in one book, what a treat, ill take it on vacation so I can study in depth!! wish I could take all these instruments with me in the plane!!
