I remember buying the Yamaha Student books when I was a kid and seeing all the same songs! This time I'm trying recorder because it's more compact/portable than other wind instruments I've played. Yay!This book explains how to read music then step by step introduces new notes while showing their fingerings. Tempo changes, refrains and other natations are added as the student progresses. I am using this book with a group of 8 kids, 9-11 years old. It has a good variety of music, and it introduces concepts pretty well though it's a bit weak on reinforcing theory (since it says "student" book, maybe there's an "instructor" book with more of that in it). It's not as good as some others I've seen for self-study but excellent for a teacher to use with a group.
Excellent service from the seller but I didn't find the book itself all that great. I much prefer the "Sweet Pipes" series of recorder learning books for both the soprano and alto recorder as well as books intended for youngsters as well as adult oriented books.
A very good recorder method with catchy tunes. Students find it easy to follow.The second parts make learning more interesting when beginners are paired with advanced students.
I use this book for any age student. My adult students are very happy with it as it is not too juvenile and "kiddie". The recorder is a wonderful classical instrument and lends it's self to multi player ie ,soprano,alto,tenor,and bass groups.
