For his movies, I remember him most through The President's Man, where he played Joshua McCord. He also did television, most notably Walker, Texas Ranger which ran for an amazing 8 seasons. I (literally) grew up tuning in each week to see how Ranger Cordell Walker dispatched the bad guys. But before his acting career, he was Chuck Norris the martial arts expert.Now Mr. Norris finds himself doing something else. Writing. Now this isn't Norris' first book. His biography Against All Odds is right over there in my shelf of biographies. But here, for the first time, Norris gives us some insights into his life and career, and he does so by tying them to his favorite Chuck Norris Facts.This book is basically a collection of small essays either telling a story about Chuck, or him speaking on different issues he is passionate about (the economy, martial arts, etc.). Through it all, we see what role Chuck's Christian faith plays in his life. The books concludes with his official testimony.
Chuck Norris "facts" have been going around the Internet for a number of years now. However, it wasn't until "The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book: 101 of Chuck's Favorite Facts and Stories" written by the actual Chuck Norris was published that we had Chuck Norris' favorites. The book is much more than just a collection of 101 quotes such as "When the going gets tough, the tough get Chuck Norris" and "The first rule of Chuck Norris : Follow his rules or eat his roundhouse kick." For each quote, or "fact," the book contains a short essay, a quote from someone else, and one of Chuck's Code, a short piece of advice such as "If I have nothing good to say about a person, then I will say nothing," or "Fighting for your family is a fight worth fighting."I thought this was a very fun little book to read, and a book that also contained some very practical and good advice regarding living. Anyone familiar with Norris knows that his faith and conservative values are extremely important to him, and they are the foundation for the principles he lives by. Naturally, his values and faith come into play as he writes about things important to him, his life, and the way he recommends people live. Therefore, if you do not like his political or faith based positions, you might not like this book. On the other hand, if you share these beliefs and enjoyed his Black Belt Patriotism," you undoubtedly would enjoy this book too.It does not go as deep into subjects as "Black Belt Patriotism" did, but there is still a list of references in the back. He does his research when he quotes things. And no, not every story in this book is political or faith based. Some are just fun stories of experiences. But they do have some kind of lesson behind them.
