I haven't read anything by this author before but I was pleasantly surprised. It's always great to discover a distinctive new voice. As a tango dancer I loved William's humorous and entertaining comments on the tango scene in Paris. As any tango dancer knows it is always difficult to find the best milongas in an unfamiliar city. This book takes away that hassle and means you can instantly find the best places to dance. I had a great time dancing in Paris as a result but even if you are not a tango dancer you will still enjoy this book for its insights into the tango world and Paris. A must read for any lover of tango and Paris!

William Derik Rawson is a fearless traveller and long-time tanguero. In his own inimitable voice, he points out the myriad of quirks and idiosynchrocies of tango in Paris. Unlike many other European cities (e.g., Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Milan or Berlin), Paris can be somewhat more difficult to navigate for the visiting tanguero. Rawson's keen sense of play and improvisation, combined with his love of the tango, opens a window into the "milongas" of Paris. For anyone who wants to dance tango in the City of Lights, Rawson has provided a marvelous and entertaining guide to this otherwise hidden aspect of the city. If anyone can "turn the tables" at a Parisienne milonga, it is Derik Rawson. This guide will definitely accompany me on my next visit to Paris.

Beautiful.
