Got a hankering to start working through Czerny?This is an intermediate text. If it's too daunting, you should start with this one: Preliminary School of Dexterity, Op. 636, as edited by Willard Palmer and published by Alfred. It's about as low as you can go and still be playing authentic Czerny that hasn't been watered down. I don't know why doesn't have a picture of it: it's certainly not rare or out of print.From there I would progress to this one, the "Practical Method for Beginners on the Piano," which, despite its title, is more advanced (and thicker) than this.Only after finishing that should you go for the mother lode: The School of Velocity, Opus 299: Complete (Alfred Masterwork Edition).All of these Alfred editions are the best: carefully edited and handsomely presented.
Although there are cheaper versions available, I definitely recommend spending the extra 3 dollars on this Alfred edition. The print is large, clear, and easy for me to read.
These exercises are quite difficult. Look deceptively easy but boy were they hard!
This is the second book I am buying for my younger kid!
