My music teacher recommended this to me to strengthen my fingers on the lower strings. It's doing that as well as increasing my speed with reading music. The exercises are fun and varied enough to keep your brain and fingers working hard. Great book.
Good book...it's the best for learning the notes and you can practice all positions...actually, this book is the very first book all guitarist should use when learning to play the instrument...don't hesitate, the price is right and and it will automatically help you learn all notes up and down the board...really, buy it! GOOD BOOK!
This book was disappointing! I could have written it better myself. The very beginning player would benefit from the technique covered in this book but that was not the intent of Hanon's original for piano. All the tabs are in nut/open position only and would need to be translated to other positions and keys. Also the picking strokes would need to be outlined. Not very well thought out!
The Tab reading in this guitar book makes it much easier to both become familiar with the notes on the staff, and learn how to read them in their original form. I've greatly enjoyed learning from this book, and learning guitar has never been so easy.
