This book would be great in hard copy, but the kindle version is unusable. All the notation and tablature is scanned at way too low of a resolution to be legible, particularly at playing speeds. Please , offer a hard copy.
Mr. Richter has distilled a lifetime of learning into this book. He provides a wealth of useful concepts for rock and blues mandolin, from rhythm to lead to turnarounds.A fantastic roadmap to the mandolin that is spurring my creative exploration of the mandolin and that I'll be coming back to for a long time. Highly recommended for beginner and intermediate musicians. You may want to check out the IPad version, which comes with music examples.
This isn't a book for beginners, its for anyone exploring the rock and blues side. Jim Richter is my hero and at the top of my mandolin player list. Pay attention to the details, he has. Worth every penny.
If you are interested in the mandolin - and not just blues - this is the book for you. Jim really knows how to teach you how 'stuff works', and a whole bunch of other stuff that makes you more keenly insightful and aware of the instrument and what is going on with it.It has already become one of my 'go to' books to help keep me on track and constantly improve.If you have any doubts, do a search for Jim on YouTube and you'll get the beginning of an idea of just how much Jim knows. But the key is - he knows how to teach how to do it - great exercises and understanding.I've been playing mandolin for quite some time, and only purchased this book about a month ago, and I've already learned a BUNCH of new things.
