M.S. Force continues to out do herself with each new book in this series. She continues to tell a complete story while intricately weaving previous storylines as well as possible ones to be told in the future all in one book. Though this could be read as a stand alone, I would highly recommend starting from the beginning of this series for two reasons. First because it will help you understand the depth and complexity of the memorable characters and second because it is simply an amazing series to read.As a fan of this series, I was excited to read the next installment. I was dying to know more about Jasper, the sexy, British, award winning Cinematographer for the Quantum group as well as Ellie; the sister of Flynn Godfrey and Jasper's business partner.Ellie has decided that she was going to make it on her own and not use her families connections to get her places in life. Sure she works for her brother, but he is only one of five partners who run Quantum. But instead of using her families money, she earns her own way in life. She even has restored her own place thanks to Home Depot and their "Do it Yourself" classes on Saturdays. The one thing she cannot do however is have a baby. She has come to terms with the fact that she may not find the right man to start a family with, but there is no reason she can't have a baby before it is too late for her. After all, she is 36 years old and she is not getting any younger. When Ellie confides in Jasper one evening her plans to become a mother, he immediately offers to help her with the situation. Though he will not allow it to be in the clinical sense. He insists he does it on his terms, the old fashioned way. But will she take him up on his offer? This book was beautifully written. M.S.
3.75 starsRavenous, the fifth book in M. Force's Quantum series, is one of my favorite tropes--friends to lovers. It features Ellie Godfrey, older sister of movie star Flynn Godfrey and a Quantum employee, and Jasper Autry, a Quantum principle and award-winning film-maker. I loved Jasper and Eliie. I think they are my favorite couple of the series so far. Jasper is quite charming, witty, thoughtful, and just downright sexy as hell, while Ellie is a woman I’d love to be friends with-she's smart, funny, kind, warm, and handy in a plumbing emergency. They are both genuinely likeable characters, and are perfect together. When Ellie confesses her plans to have a baby to Jasper, he seizes the opportunity to take their friendship to another level. Their relationship moves at warp speed (much like all the relationships in this series), but I found I didn't have an issue with it, since they had been friends for so many years. Jasper's reason for keeping his distance, a secret he's withheld from his closest friends, seemed to have such a simple solution, that it made all the angst and drama seem unnecessary, and felt a bit contrived to me. However, it wasn't completely over the top or unbelievable, so ultimately, I guess it worked well enough. My biggest issue with this book--the entire series, really--is that it's not as kinky as advertised. While these characters talk about their kink, and think about their past sexual exploits, the sex they’re having in their present, with their heroines, just isn't that kinky. The sex is HOT, and very intense. Not exactly vanilla, but it's not what I think of when I think kink or BDSM. Ms. Force is an amazing writer. One of her strengths, in my opinion, is her ability to create interesting, complex, characters that readers really respond to.
