The Suzuki books are fantastic for me (adult student). I wish I'd bought the versions with the CDs, although you can find most of the songs demonstrated on youtube.
I"m a violin teacher 5 days a week and I prefer the original Suzuki Books. I find these have misprints in the music. They have more exercises and drills but the misprints are a problem and many of the bowings are different from the original music. I don't like these at all.
A good book, but I feel like there's more filler and less music to work with when compared to the first one. Especially when considering that the first book had to go over things like how to stand/sit and hold the violin and bow.
I had hoped there might be a finger location chart with these books. I will be trying to teach a 3 year old how to play. I can read music, but I've not played the violin before. Had hoped to learn first then teach her. I'll figure it out. Still good books for the beginner.
First time buying this product, so I have nothing to compare it to, but my son's violin teacher is the one who recommended purchasing the Suzuki Volume 2 from . My son has done exceedingly well with the Suzuki method. Highly recommend this music book to any beginner wanting to learn to play the violin.
I ordered these books for my daughter and she is progressing rapidly through them. They were recommended for her by her violin teacher. We have been very pleased with them. They arrived on time and in great shape. Thank you.
I was disappointed the book did not come with the CD. Major bummer, especially since on page 4 of the book, Suzuki stresses how important it is for the student to listen to the CD every day.
I have 3 children learning violin for the past 14 months. They are all using the Suzuki method of learning along with other books like A Tune a day (beginning scales), Wohlfahrt, & String Builder (3rd & 5th position). The latter part of this book introduces 3rd position. My 11yr old & 9 year old are on book 3 now but use this book to practice 3rd and 5th position (they will play a piece entirely in those positions, just for practice). My 7 year old got stuck on the last two pieces and his instructor introduced string builder books 2 & 3 to improve his intonation. He is also doing Wohlfahrt exercises. Oldest completed this book in 7 months, 9 year old in 8 months (these are with 3rd position playing). 7 year old is still working on this book.
