Our 8 yo daughter has been enjoying using the DVD with the book to teach herself. She loves it and has been able to be pretty independent (we got a tuner that's easy for her to use, too, which helps with the independence) -- she'll disappear for an hour or so working on her uke. Awesome!

This method finally is for kids and even for adults that are starting in music ,i know it is good the niece is having fun and progressing .The only problem was that the delivery was supposed to be the 19 just in time to wrap it for Christmas but it arrived the 29 and at the price they charge for shipping it is like getting robbed.
I got this to teach uke playing to a couple of kids in Sunday school. It's a mixed package. It tries to teach strumming and finger picking using music notation (for which I give it credit), it just doesn't do any of those very well. I learned music as a kid myself, and I had books with lots of figures (B&W back then) but I think this book wants to put too much emphasis in making it too "cool" and colorful for kids, that it forgets what its purpose is. In conclusion it might be OK if that's the only choice you have, but it'll become obsolete after a couple of weeks of using it.
Easy to follow and understand. I purchased this for myself, as I am teaching myself ukulele. My grandson loves music, and I hope to teach him how to play the uke as soon as he is old enough.
Very basic. Great for kids 6-12. I am giving it to my grandson who wants to learn how to Palau the ukulele.
Just what we wanted, Very very happy with it. I was happy with the cd it came with and my daughter loves it.
