A good followup to his first volume - more famous songs and some older gems (Pink Elephants on Parade a la Bartok!). The music isn't for beginners, and intermediate pianists would struggle with several arrangements, but if you can play Debussy's Reverie, this book is great. Some arrangements are like mashups of specific classical pieces with Disney songs, others are just in the style of a composer. As a classically trained pianist I'm always looking for enjoyable piano solo arrangements of popular music and this collection is great. Knowing the composer/classical piece paired with each Disney song makes it better to see how he melded them together.
I needed arrangements of Disney tunes for a wedding and these were just what I was looking for. The classical flare given to each one makes it more suited for a wedding than just the straight tunes from the movie songbooks. There are some beautiful arrangements both in this "more" book and the original. The music got rave reviews at the wedding!
OK arrangements - but not particularly overwhelming. There are two volumes, I only found one song I wanted to use out of the two books combined - so not anything I can recommend. There are some also some Disney arrangements by jim brickman that I prefer.
This book is so much fun. I have really enjoyed learning these disney songs at a classical level. Some of the songs have been quite a challenge and others were fairly easy to learn. Would recommend this book to all classically trained pianists.
These arrangements vary from the very challenging to the fairly easy (for the moderately skilled). I love the harmonies. These pieces are really fun to play. These arrangements are unique, because he weaves hints of classical pieces into these Disney favorites.
I was waiting for a disney piano book like this one! I'm a fan of classical carols too..which is a similar idea of combining classical works with Christmas songs..so I was thrilled when I found classical disney songs!This is not advanced, but I really like these renditions. The easier songs to play are Baroque Hoedown, Someday my Prince will come (which gets really dramatic at the end), and Zip-a-dee-doo-dah. I found The Bells of Notre Dame, Pink Elephants on Parade, and Ratatoullie more difficult. Part of your World, Aladdin, Supercali, Follow the Leader, etc are very true to the original songs and enjoyable to play, some get more difficult as they go on.I was disappointed with When you Wish Upon a Star. I will add though, I haven't found a version that has really satisfied me yet, it's one of my favorites and I want a version that REALLY stands out. This one is nice though, just could be more, it's easier to play.I would love to see more songs, especially from attractions and other movies.Overall I'm very pleased with this book, I haven't found a similar collection, and will be getting his other classical disney book too.I like how others compare it to famous pieces readers might know so if you can play Waltz in A minor by Chopin I think the difficulty level of this book is about there. (ABRSM grade 6. Reverie is 6 too I think)
