This book is great for piano or keyboard beginners that like serious music. It may be "step 2" or "step 3" in the learning process due to the increased demands on left hand chord activity and slight increase in sharp and flat note requirements. It contains many of the songs the average serious music aficiando may enjoy like Fur Elise, Canon D (in C), Air, Ave Maria and many more. This book is an opportunity that will take me to a higher level of enjoyment with my keyboard.I now have four fake books and I find all of them easy to use and a great method to self teach myself. I will be purchasing more in the future because I enjoy many musical genres.
Most of my piano skills are self-taught, and I love classical music. I love this book! It has a wonderful selection of pieces, and it delivers as promised - easy keys. The font is a perfect size. The pieces are set up so there is minimal need to flip pages. I love using this book for the piano. But even better, I just started playing the accordion, and many of the pieces are wonderfully suited for that instrument. I highly recommend this book. I saw some reviews that mentioned mistakes in the book. Not a problem. I found maybe a handful in the entire book, and they were easy to fix. For years classical music was unavailable to me. Now I can enjoy it, too!
Great book, this fake book! I am using it with my chromatic harmonica. Very easy to read , don't need to stand too close to the music stand. Arrangements are fun to play.
This is a great starter book. I took the book to Staples to have it spiral bound so it would lay flat on my music stand. The sheet music is simplified for the beginner, but my instructor and I are modifying the melodies to add more depth, but still keeping the music within my skill level.
I love this book. I don't know how to read music but play chords. There is one line with the melody. I play it with my right hand and than I play the chord on the left.I sometimes improvise and instead of playing all the chord notes at ones I do them separately. I love to play background music. My husband likes to listen to it when he works in his office. I always take my books to my mother on the West Coast and play as she cooks. This is my first Classical fake book. I own 4 other ones and love them.
For beginners like myself the simplified chords and key, allow me to play tunes that I would not be attempting for many years,excellent.
This is an excellent book for anyone who enjoys some well-known classical music but wants it basic. It broadens the variety for a person who plays piano for his/her own enjoyment but who has not studied for any length of time with a music teacher. The "fake" books work especially well for someone who is getting into playing piano after retirement like me.
I love the easy way to do things, even playing my keyboard. This makes it come to life for me instead of trudging through the actual sheet music adaptations. It may not be perfect but it is close enough to thoroughly enjoy.
