This is an excellent collection of both commonly sung and more rarely heard carols. It includes Christmas favorites ranging from Silent Night and Jingle Bells, to less commonly sung carols such as The Boar's Head Carol and Carol of the Birds. It also includes various different versions of several songs such as Away in a Manger. Included are many songs in English but also a good number in other languages such as Latin, German, Spanish, and more. This is overall a great collection and so much fun to sing from!
This collection is amazing! Every song I wanted, plus many I didn't know I wanted until I got this book. Did I mention the spiral binding? The pages stay open to where I want them as I play and sing. I'm delighted to celebrate Christmas in song and teach my kids all my old (and new) favorite carols. Masterfully assembled collection!
I am blown away by the generosity of Mr. Benjamin Bloomfield, who compiled, transcribed, edited, and now publishes this volume at an amazing price. I have been searching for some of the less well known carols for years, and am so pleased to have this book. The standard carols are included, along with a large number of carols that most people have never heard, but that are wonderful and lovely! The book contains at least 200 carols, most of them playable by a beginning to intermediate pianist. (I'm at a rusty intermediate level, and I can sight read more than 95% of the songs.) Thank you so much, Mr. Bloomfield, for this incredibly generous offering.
There are many old carols in this book, which is exactly what I wanted. It also has piano accompaniment which some carol books lack. There are many beautiful songs with some old English language, but to me that adds to the charm. The picture on the front is a good indication of what is inside. You won't find any modern songs, and few 'secular' carols, although "Jingle Bells" is there. If you check the list, you will know whether this is right for you.
This is a truly excellent selection of pieces. The cover is beautiful cover and the music is very clean/neat to read. I am so looking forward to digging into the carols in this book in the years to come!!
