There has been only one review of Stephen Johnston's reading of the NKJV so far, and the review and reviewer have been extremely unfair and inaccurate. Since 1980, Stephen Johnston has been recognized as an outstanding reader of many different intepretations of the Bible. His achievements have not only earned him an Emmy, but also 9 Angel awards for his accomplishments. As much as I respect Alexander Scourby's classic reading of the Bible from the early 1950's, the pacing is quite rapid, when compared to Stephen Johnston. My only suggestion to the other reviewer would be to give Mr. Johnston a second listen with an open mind.
Its really nice to be able to hear the bible while your driving. The narrator's do a fine job of telling the stories, and the music playing lightly in the background corresponds just fine.
There must be a problem with the product page, because the narration sample is not Stephen Johnston. The actual audio is OK, not perfect but it's clean and acceptable. My biggest disappointment is not with Johnson's voice but with his pacing. In some places it's fine, but in others he reads so fast that I'm listening to the same passages 3, 4, 5 times to absorb it. I also find some of the background music unpleasant; some selections are Asian or Indian, and while I'd have no problem with the music in a different setting, it is discordant & distracting under the Bible reading, not the best choice IMO. I wanted something I could download and listen to on my tablet or phone, so I like the convenience, but I'll look for a version with more consistent & thoughtful pacing and preferably without the music.
Awesome, Awesome and did I mention awesome. Listen I drive to work in California Traffic everyday a good hour or hour and a half to get to work on weekdays so these Bible CD's are an absolute joy and blessing. The Narrator may seem a little fast to some , but not to me. In fact I think he is great, but then how could you go wrong reading the Word of God right?. Anyways I manage to power down one CD a day with my traffic and the funny things is when I finally reach my destinations, whether work or home, I don't want to stop listening. The way they have the CD's recorded allows you to easily go back or forward with a push of an arrow, this is especially great when I want to hear the chapter over or listen to my favorite verses again. This is an absolute work of art and a labor of love. I feel so uplifted and inspired each time I listen that I just want to keep feeling good. I truly enjoy reading the Bible, but this is an added bonus for my long and weary trips to and from work. The fact that this is recorded in the New King James Version only adds to the value of having these CD's. It is a wonderful treasure I hope to enjoy for many road trips in the future who ever thought I would actually look forward to being in traffic. GET THE CD's
Really like having my NKJV Bible on CD. I can take it with me when I walk or rest. I would recommend this to all my friends& family. It comes in such a nice carring case also. I was so surprised it came so quickly. God Bless
I think this is the best purchase I've made on . It's easy to use and take care of. The carrying case is just perfect to keep the cd's clean and well cared for. Anyone thinking of buying this should do so, it's great!!
This is a great way to learn the bible. You can listen to the discs in the car or at home. Great buy
Loved that it came within a week's time. Too bad the "free shipping" option wouldn't have gotten it here soon enough. Haven't listened to the actual CDs yet since it's a gift for my mom. Hope it will work for her.
