I could not be more thrilled by the progress that I have made with the help of this book. I have always wanted to endeavour into acrylic painting. Although art has never been my most refined talent, it is something that I truly enjoy. This book has helped me to vastly improve my technique and skill with acrylic painting. I am already extremely impressed by the progress that I have made. There is still a great deal of techniques in this book that I would like to attempt to implement, but I have to progress one step at a time. This book is a must have if you are attempting acrylic painting for the first time. Excellent work Angelina Bell, I sincerely hope that you will continue to write these valuable guides.
This book is really good, especially for those who are starting in the world of painting in acrylic, not only because you explain the why to use this type of paint but because it teaches you to brushes used, technical drawing and above all how choose a theme among many things that will ensure you know much about acrylic paintthe author did a great job in this book.
One would be hard pressed to find a better beginner's guide to acrylic painting as I read through I felt my enthusiasm grow as I realized how simple it really is to paint with acrylics. As I followed the guide I was confident that I had the skills to begin with. Bell is a very detail oriented teacher in her instruction from where to begin including color theory and ending with how to correct mistakes, however I was most impressed with her chapter on layering, teaching the basics as well as glazing giving the artist the ability to do a more complicated form of layering paints. Overall a resounding recommendation as the best beginner's guide ever on acrylic painting.
I knew very little about acrylic painting before reading this book. I enjoy painting with other mediums but wanted to explore acrylics to see if it would be something I may be interested in trying. This book does a fantastic job of explaining every aspect of painting with acrylic paints. From choosing your paints, brushes and other supplies to the techniques used to create certain parts of your painting, this book will walk you though every step! Bell even takes the time to cover the creative process and how to choose your subject to paint. There are lots of useful tips and techniques throughout the book that will benefit beginners as well as experienced artists. Things are explained in the simplest terms possible, which makes this book a true pleasure to read. I highly recommend this book if you are just getting started in the world of acrylic painting. If you already have experience with acrylic paints some of this book will not apply to you but there are lots of chapters that will still be very beneficial to the experienced artist.
I have worked with a number of other mediums before but acrylic was something that I saved mainly for pottery etc. Usually when painting I work with water color because I tend to like the simplicity of it. I guess some might not think water colors are easy or simple but I have always worked with them. I decided that I wanted to branch out a bit and see if I couldn't work with acrylics in a similar fashion. This book gave me some good insight and a little more confidence in working with this medium. Overall I enjoyed the book and the way it was set up and written. If you are starting out with acrylic or thinking about it I believe this book would be helpful.
Another masterpiece from Angelina Bell. She is really great at making books that is related to art. Many people really likes to paint, even when they are still a little kid. But the question is will they become a really great painter when they grow up? Will they considered themselves as a "painter"? I don't think so. I think it's only a few of them are. This book really helps, especially to those beginners, who have the passion of painting. This book also teaches you about the different painting perspective and you will learn it fast. Even if you considered yourself that you don't have any talents whatsoever related to art, you will enjoy reading this book. You'll think that painting is a very fun activity. I would definitely recommend this book!!
I love using acrylics. This book gives you a clear run down on different techniques for acrylic painting. This book only covers simple and basic beginning techniques, nothing is real hard. It is clearly written specifically for beginning and basic application of acrylic paints. I would recommend this book to any person who is interested in art, and students that are beginning with acrylic mediums. When I looked over the book as a person who is advanced with using Acrylic paints, I saw a basic run down of techniques which made me decide this book would be good for my daughter.
This book was really helpful to me. I have some people in my family that are able to paint really well, but I have never been one of them. I decided to give painting a try, and acrylics seemed to me to be the easiest to work with. I found this book, and it was a great introduction and step by step guide for these water based paints. The author shows you how to mix colors for different shades and tints, and one of the things that I really liked about it was lots of practice is included in the instruction. This book is well worth reading and using.
