As a one-stroke beginner this book offers great review and guidance of the basic strokes. Projects are very detailed with suggested colors and step by step instructions. Beautiful flowers, vines, leaves, birds, and even butterflies. My instructor, Pam, believes this is the best Dewberry book yet. She teaches advanced students who have reviewed my copy and can't wait for their own. You won't be disappointed. Donna Dewberry takes her work to another level with this book. I love it.
This book isn't for the very beginner in Donna's one-stroke - not as much info as I've seen in her videos and a couple of her early books on how to actually perform the strokes. But if you know her basics, this is a great book to get a lot of ideas for a variety of subjects. I've decided I'm going to work through one project a week for practice and for the fun of it, as they look like most will only take one evening. I figure by the end of it, I'll be pretty well practiced with her techniques and have a lot of good reference material to boot.
I bought it as a present for my mother, and she was delighted. Although she has been painting for several years she had never tried one-stroke before, and this book is the prefect introduction to this technique. It explains all the basic stuff, how to use the brushes, mix the colours, etc. However, I should also say that, if you are an absolute beginner and you have never painted before you will probalby find this book a bit "advanced". My advice: If you have already painted before and you want to start one-stroke, this is the book for you. If you have never painted, try another book. Perhaps one of Donna Dewberry's beginners guide will be the best option for you.
I was happy with the book but another reviewer mentioned that Donna needs to have an entirely new book on One-Stroke techniques that are not in any of her other paint books. I was looking for different ideas for paint projects and maybe more detailed instructions. I enjoyed the book and used a couple things from it but I was hoping for more. I have been doing One-Stroke for a number of years and this book is definitely not for beginners.
Really liked this book as it explains more on color and shading. Loaded with information on usinng the different paint strokes to make your design.
This book is absolutely awesome! It show all the stokes needed to do one-stroke painting and proceeds to show you how to paint several things! I do wish some of the stokes shown were on the same page as the flower that she is demonstrating that way I don't have to flip back and forth, but that is a minor inconvenience when you see what this book offers. Another great book by Donna Dewberry!
Donna Dewberry is fantastic. Very talented. I have most of her books. I could not afford to go to classes so I purchased all of her videos and as many books as I could find, mostly on e-bay. I can play the videos over and over to get my strokes correct and the books are wonderful visual aids. Highly recommend any of her books but this one is even more detailed.
Product came in great condition and on time. I'm very satisfied and very likely order more from this seller. The book is truly a great book and full of designs and ideas.They're very easy to imply. I've already used some of them and it looks just like the picture in the book.
