This book is written for the narrow audience that includes me (mother of an aspiring bassoon player) and, most likely, you who are reading this review, of non-bassoonists teaching or trying to help aspiring bassoonists. Proving that you can find absolutely everything online, the book is designed to instruct non-bassoon players in the art of teaching others to play bassoon. I recommend it for parents of bassoon players, and music teachers who are not bassoonists or double reed players. It provides a lot of information about equipment as well as playing, all of which is hard to find and immensely helpful. I downloaded the kindle version of this book when my son was experiencing a new bad playing habit that he could not pinpoint and it served that purpose, and more.
Great read for when insightful prose serves better an exercise book.
The book had a very nice dicription of the bassoon. The different kinds and about taking care of it and your reeds. The only problem I had with it is that the fingering chart was confusing. Overall I think it was good.
